This scene of Smith Mountain Lake is a short distance from my home studio. It is my favorite view, and became the landscape I just had to paint when we moved to Virginia. I chose a springtime setting and developed a farmer on his tractor, redbud trees with their beautiful spring blooming but short-lived rosy pink blossoms, and a tobacco barn, familiar in Virginia, but fast disappearing.
