Standing outside a pasta shop in Orvieto, Italy, friends and I were intrigued by the impressive brick pavement reflection. The words on the sign in the window are Italian for "today" and "roast suckling pig" - a picture of which I deleted for my painting. I knew this interior could be perfectly described with colored pencil. I used lots of earth colors in the many pencil layers.
